HOW TO GET THERE:
By airplane there are Domestic flights from Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surabaya every day. (Garuda Airlines). From Denpasar Bali five times every day (Merpati Airlines). International Flights 4times a week from Singapore to Mataram Lombok (Silk Air, daughter of Singapore Airlines). By Seaway: Fast boats leaving from Benoa Harbour Bali, or by Ferry (Car, Passenger) leaving from PadangBai Bali. History, Geographic: Lombok is about three-quarters the size of Bali and is estimated to have surprisingly, approx. 2.5Million inhabitants, making it slightly more densely populated than Bali. Lombok lies only 375Km south of the equator. The weather is tropical with days 12hours long all the year. Temperatures between 27C and 32C the whole year. There is a dry season from May to September and a wet season from October to March. The best time to travel is - weather wise - May until August. Today the majority of the people are Moslems, but there Hindus and a minority of Christians. The Balinese built their temples and palaces and participate in ceremonies and rituals with as much devotion as in the neighboring island of Bali. All the religions live in respecting coexistence.

Lombok is where you can find almost every day of the year some form of traditional ceremony going on.

LOMBOK Hotel

Lombok's panorama is as beautiful as Bali island. Some people say that Lombok is Bali in the 60's. What you can find in Bali certainly can be found in this island with different atmosphere.
Mount Rinjani, the highest mountain in this island (3,736 m), is visible from Bali island. From the top you can see all of Lombok, Bali and Sumba Islands. Senggigi beach offers you a virgin beach with great waves for suffers while Gili isles are well known for their "underwater colorful world", and is one of the best snorkeling places on this island.
Access to Lombok from Bali has become easier and faster in recent years. You can enjoy a sightseeing adventure by sea when you choose to visit Lombok by high-speed ferry. Or you can catch a 20 minutes flight from Ngurah Rai airport to Selaparang Airport.
For your convenience you can choose an international standard service in many hotels here or just a local home stay to ease your budget. There are lots of hotels and losmens along tourist's destination in this island. Rental cars and international restaurants can be found here, too.

Location LOMBOK

Located just east of Bali, Lombok has been promoted as "an unspoiled Bali" for quite some time, with beautiful beaches and the large, looming volcano of Mount Rinjani. However, an impending tourism boom was severely disrupted by riots in 2000, when mobs of Muslims and ethnic Sasak people, ostensibly protesting sectarian violence in Maluku, attacked and looted churches as well as homes and businesses owned by Christians and ethnic Chinese. The ensuing years have been quieter, but tourists have continued to stay away.
The more Islamic culture in Lombok compared than Bali may explain the reason why Lombok is quieter than Bali in terms of parties and nightlife, which can be either a positive or a negative depending on your point of view. Lombok is also becoming increasingly popular for honeymooners.
